Why and How to Add a Watermark to Your Images Online

6/18/2026

Protecting Your Digital Assets

If you are a photographer, artist, or small business owner, sharing your work online comes with the risk of someone stealing it. A simple and effective deterrent is adding a watermark.

What Should Your Watermark Say?

Typically, a watermark includes the copyright symbol (©), the year, and your name or brand. Example: © 2026 SizeSnap Photography.

How to Add a Watermark for Free

You don't need complex editing software to protect your images.

  1. Use our Add Text Watermark Tool.
  2. Upload the image you want to protect.
  3. Type your watermark text, choose a font, and set the opacity (transparency) so it doesn't ruin the image.
  4. Position it across the center or in the bottom right corner.
  5. Download the watermarked image.

Remember, a watermark should be visible enough to deter theft but transparent enough not to distract from the main subject of your photo.
